The Gift of Easter
The COVID-19 outbreak has caused many changes we are all having to get used to including not being in large gatherings. Churches were one of the first establishments to feel the effect of coronavirus with many state governors, including our North Carolina governor, putting restrictions on how many people could be together at once. For most Christians, Easter is the most special Sunday of the year, and many who don't attend church on a regular basis will still get up and go on Easter Sunday.
So this year, we are all experiencing Easter in a new way thanks to coronavirus. We started out today viewing our church service online on the Awake Church YouTube channel. Thankfully, we live in a time where technology still allows us to have some social interaction even though we're practicing social distancing.
Yes, this is a business page; however, we wanted to declare our faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And we wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Easter and remind you that "He Is Risen!" No matter what we are going through here on earth, there is a better place to come for those who believe. Matthew 6:19-21 says “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
With the current state of the world, many are seeking to know what the Bible says about pandemics. Jesus mentioned future plagues would be near the end of this world in Luke 21:11. This COVID-19 may or may not be a sign of End Times, but either way we know God is in control (Matthew 19:26), and He does not want us to fear. In fact, "do not fear" is mentioned over 300 times in the Bible. Many people during these times struggle to believe in God and if Jesus was who he said he was. Biblical scholars believe there are over 300 prophecies in the Old Testament that Jesus fulfilled. Many of these prophecies took place hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus. The chance to satisfy even 8 prophesies is 1 in 10 to the 17th power!
On this Easter Sunday, please consider the gift that Jesus offered you...eternal life (Ephesians 2:8-10). All one has to do is confess with your mouth and believe. Romans 10:9-10 says If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. If you said this prayer, authentically, please let us know. We'll be glad to send you resources to help you grow in your faith.
